Korbé: Official launch of the health centre renovation works

An essential health facility, stretched to its limits
The Korbé health centre is currently the first — and often only — point of healthcare for the 15,521 inhabitants of the community and surrounding villages. After years of use without significant investment, the facility shows signs of advanced deterioration: damaged roofing, deteriorated ceilings, faulty electrical wiring, dilapidated medical equipment, and precarious drug storage.
The medical staff keeps the operation running against all odds. Yet the material conditions seriously compromise the quality of care — particularly for mothers, children and elderly patients, who are the first affected.
Faced with this reality, RGK has developed a comprehensive project structured in two phases:
Phase 1 — Priority renovation: maternity unit, consultation room, staff housing, water tower, external toilets, isolation room
Phase 2 — Extension: medical analysis laboratory, ultrasound room, and morgue
The full scope, costed by an engineer on the ground in Conakry, represents a total investment of approximately USD 130,000.
July 6th: a moment of collective convergence
The launch ceremony, scheduled for Monday, July 6th, 2026 at 12:00 noon on the health centre site, will bring together all the stakeholders of the project: the Sub-Prefect of Korbé, the Mayor and Deputy Mayor, the Inspector General of Health, the Prefectural Director of Health, the community Elders, the medical staff, representatives of the local population, as well as the delegations of the Kamein Foundation and RGK.
This moment will mark far more than a ribbon-cutting. It is the convergence point between a community, its authorities, its institutional partners and its diaspora — a strong signal of collective commitment to the well-being of all.
RGK: a youth-led movement for Korbé
Founded in 2021, the RGK association — Relève Gnogueyabhé Korbé — brings together young people Korbé committed to solidarity work in favor of their homeland. Recognized as a public interest association, RGK carries out concrete actions in the fields of health, education, and local development.
A first major institutional endorsement was obtained from IAC — International Aid Charity (United States), which is contributing USD 20,000 in support of the maternity unit. This signal of confidence from an American partner has validated the strength of the project and given it the momentum to take flight.
Contribute to the project
Many people, within the Korbé community, in Guinea and across the world, have already expressed their wish to contribute financially to this project. To welcome this momentum, an online fundraising campaign is now open: anyone can contribute, at whatever level fits their means.
For French taxpayers, donations are eligible for a 66% income tax reduction (Article 200 of the French Tax Code) — a €100 donation actually costs only €34 after deduction.
Other means of participation (international bank transfers for contributors outside the euro zone, institutional donations) will be communicated in the days following the official launch ceremony.
The Kamein Foundation's support
True to its mission — supporting the initiatives that build the future of our communities — the Kamein Foundation is proud to stand alongside RGK on this foundational project. We will closely follow every stage of the works and provide regular updates on progress, right here on this site.
Because Korbé's health is not only RGK's cause. It is that of an entire community, and of all those who, near and far, extend a hand to our land.
Together, let us give Korbé a health centre worthy of its people.
